We score ten Swiss-specific categories — work-permit fit, language skills, achievements, USP, soft skills, hard skills, education, job history, portfolio, profile photo. You get an overall percentage and a one-line rationale per category.

What does the ATS check actually look at?

Section structure, headings, date formats, contact-block placement, photo handling, language declarations, and Swiss-specific signals such as permit status and mother-tongue declaration. Not just 'is it parseable' — does it parse the way Swiss recruiters expect.

Is my CV stored? Where?

Your file is processed in our EU infrastructure (AWS Frankfurt) and is FADP and GDPR compliant. We do not sell data. You can delete your CV at any time from your account.

Photo on a Swiss CV — yes or no?

Swiss convention: yes. A professional photo is standard and expected on most CVs. We check whether yours is present, well-placed and appropriately framed.

Which language should my CV be in?

Match the language of the job posting. If you are applying broadly: German in Zurich, Bern and Basel; French in Geneva and Lausanne; Italian in Ticino; English at international firms. Our check scores in all four.

How do I make an ATS friendly CV for Switzerland?

Keep the layout single-column, use standard section headings, avoid text inside images or tables, and write dates in one consistent format. That is what the free ATS CV check reads for. Of 6,996 Swiss postings whose apply link we could identify, the systems doing the reading are Workday, Prospective, jobs.ch, Greenhouse, SmartRecruiters, Umantis and Lever — two of those are Swiss products most CV advice never mentions.

Is there a free Swiss CV template?

Yes. The Swiss CV template is free and laid out the way Swiss recruiters expect — photo top right, reverse-chronological experience, explicit language levels, and a line for permit status. You can fill it in directly or upload the CV you already have and get it checked.

Do I send a resume or a CV in Switzerland?

In Switzerland the document is called a CV (Lebenslauf, CV, curriculum vitae) and runs one to two pages with a photo — closer to a European CV than a US resume. A one-page US resume with no photo is not wrong, but it will look unfamiliar, and a resume checker built for the US market will not flag the fields Swiss employers care about.

Curriculum vitae or CV — which does a Swiss employer want?

The same document. "Curriculum vitae" is the formal name and "CV" the everyday one, and Swiss adverts use both interchangeably. If you are looking for a curriculum vitae template you want exactly what a CV template gives you here: one to two pages, reverse-chronological, with a photo. Is there a free CV template, or a CV template in Word?

The editor runs in the browser and produces a PDF, which is what applicant tracking systems read most reliably. That is deliberate rather than a limitation: a CV template word file loses its layout when opened in a different version of Word, and the parsing errors that follow are exactly what a CV check exists to catch. The template itself is free and can be regenerated as often as you like.
